Volunteer opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Planned Parenthood of Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta (PPLAMD).  We are excited that you want to support our organization as we carry out our mission to ensure the right and ability of all individuals to manage their sexual and reproductive health by providing healthcare, educational, and outreach services to our community.

We invite you to explore the volunteer opportunities that are currently available and complete our online volunteer application.  Once your application has been received, you will contact you via email for an interview.  After the interview is completed, you will receive an invitation to our next volunteer orientation.  Because of the sensitivity of our work, we do screen all volunteer applicants.

Where we have volunteers...

Clinic Support Areas:

Client Advocate: Help us keep our clients aware of local and national reproductive health care issues. Client advocates ask our patrons to sign our petitions, and talk them about upcoming advocacy opportunities, and educational events.

Family Planning Administrative Assistant: Help our medical services team by providing clerical support.  Activities include filing, shredding, and other office tasks.

Other Volunteer Opportunities:

Community Outreach: Help us inform the local community of the quality medical and educational services that we provide.  Activities include asking local businesses and organizations to make Planned Parenthood literature available to their patrons, and asking managers to provide information about Planned Parenthood’s affordable medical services and government family planning programs to uninsured employees.

Administrative Support: Help our advocacy and education staff with data-entry, data-base cleaning, and event publicity.

Health Fairs: Represent Planned Parenthood of Louisiana at health fairs and other community events.  Health fair volunteers dispense Planned Parenthood literature, answer questions about our medical services, talk about upcoming advocacy opportunities and educational events, and ask people to sign our petitions.

Fundraising/Special Events: Help us plan community outreach events.  Activities include addressing invitations or mailers, preparing give-away items, and working at Planned Parenthood sponsored events including pub-crawls, bar nights and dinner parties.

VOX (Campus Outreach): VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood is a program to education and mobilize students and youth in support of reproductive health and rights.  VOX groups across the country organize public events, educate their peers, support their local Planned Parenthood health centers and mobilize students and other young people to speak out for reproductive rights and access to reproductive health services.

Planned Parenthood Young Professionals: Planned Parenthood Connecting Advocates for Sexual Health (CASH) in New Orleans , and Social Networks Advocating for Planned Parenthood (SNAPP) in Baton Rouge are groups of twenty/thirty something advocates committed to raising friends, awareness and fun for Planned Parenthood and reproductive health care issues.

Start with joining the Planned Parenthood Action Network and stay in touch with your local and national elected representatives.
